"If we focus on what's ugly, we attract more ugliness into our thoughts, and then into our emotions, and ultimately into our lives” ― Wayne W. Dyer, The Power of Intention

What we think about comes about, not a woo woo way, though the woo-woo has certainly adopted this idea, however, to bring it back to earth and us the humble human, the evolving earthling, it is the way the brain and mind work.

The RAS (reticular activating system) is a function of the brain between the spine and the brain that helps you sort information and focus, we are bombarded with information in every second of every day, we would be mind-blown, tripping-out in overwhelm central if we took it all in at once so the brain has a gate-keeper so that we can function, for example, you want a new car, lets say you have your eye on a mini micra, you are out and about and all you see are mini Micra's everywhere, were there always so many mini micra's or were they always there? The truth is that now you want one, you are thinking and focusing on this particular car, so you are seeing them more than usual, you are on a mission, your mind is thinking how, where, when and what is the process to purchasing a mini micra and that simply put is - the RSA in action.

How does this relate to intending certain things in our own lives?

When we get clear and move all the rubbish that is cluttering up our thoughts and lives, when we make a decision and decide what we want to achieve, we say no to what we don't want and we say yes to what do want, we burn bridges and can make powerful choices towards our intentions and goals without distraction.

Here are some questions to ask yourself in order to get clear on your intentions.

  1. What do I want right now in my life, relationship, job, home, finances, creativity ...fill in the blank?

  2. What do I not want right now in my life (had enough of, cant take or do anymore)

  3. What would my life look and feel like if I was to make the above happen?

  4. Am I willing to commit to what I want and if not what is my reason (excuse)

  5. How can I hold myself acountable, get a coach, tell a friend, do something radical.

  6. What small steps can I take right now to get this ball rolling?

  7. By when would I like to see myself having achieved this intention/goal/life change?

"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist.
